Prejardhja (anglisht)Etymology

First attested in 1510 by Muzaka, as well as in 1685 by Bogdani, already with the meaning of "mountain". Hypothesized to be derived from Latin *pastica, from pastus, or from *bjershkë, a derivative of bie (“to fall”) (see pjeshkë < *pjershkë < Latin persica). The term could be the source or related to the oronym Beskidy.
